Why?
During my graduation internship at NICE, I developed a durable and circular bee house building kit for children as part of a teaching package. The client of the internship is the municipal yard Meppel, they want to become the most circular field service in the Netherlands. I have made a sustainable product for them from the waste streams that occur on their site. To develop a truly sustainable product, I studied the vision of a circular economy and researched circular methods. The product Bee NICE helps children to learn about decreasing biodiversity and our consumer society. But most importantly this product shows how you can support biodiversity. It shows how you can help to prevent further decline of biodiversity. The product promotes biodiversity by providing nesting, food and resting places for the solitary bee. The product is made by people who have a disability or distance from the labor market.
